Water Feature Systems

Vulkem® Extreme Wear Systems (EWS) are composed of tough-curing, durable liquid polyurethane methacrylate (PUMA) — specifically designed for water feature applications including basins for fountains, waterfalls, reflecting pools, decorative ponds and the like. Waterproof Vulkem EWS systems provide superior resistance to the damaging effects of chlorine and UV exposure, and can be finished in over 70 field-tintable color options, decorative flakes or quartz.

A: Primers

Tremco PUMA primer is a two-component primer that promotes maximum adhesion to porous and non-porous substrates.

B: Base Coats

Tremco PUMA BC (base coat) bonds firmly to Tremco PUMA Primer, and retains its integrity regardless of substrate movement, up to 1/16”.

C: Top Coats

Tremco PUMA TC (top coat) offers excellent UV-stability, abrasion and chemical resistance. It can even be field-tinted to over 70 colors, or finished with decorative quartz or flakes.

D: Overburden

Overburden varies by project depending on desired aesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Traditional constructions solvents such as xylene, mineral spirits, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, etc cannot be used with PUMA technology. All cleaning of tools and coating must be done with Tremco PUMA Cleaner.

No. Tremco PUMA components contain both polyurethane methacrylate and methyl methacrylate. While these ingredients carry a distinct odor, neither are harmful. In fact, the chemical makeup is almost identical to acrylics used in nail salons.

PUMA technology can be applied down to 20 °F/ -7 °C.

Each layer of all PUMA technology systems cure in 30 to 45 min and the next coat can be applied at that time. In fact, they can be opened up to traffic one hour after installation is complete.
