Treated Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL) Framing

The Parapet Cap is a customized blocking solution used at the edge of a roof, balcony, terrace, walkway, or other structure. Leveraging the strength and stability of 1-½” (38 mm) thick, treated Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL), it offers the contractor, owner and design community an engineered solution for terminating parapet wall assemblies of their structure. The parapet nailer will interface with framing, air barriers, roofing coping, and finish materials.

Prebuck is manufactured from Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL) that is pressed and glued using MDI resin. This resin forms a plastic binder between the structural strands of lumber, providing an engineered framing solution designed to resist twisting, warping, and cupping.

Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL) is an engineered wood product. It is a structural composite formed by bonding thin parallel veneers together in large billets and cutting to dimension based on intended use.

Prebuck products come in standard lengths of 16" (4.88 m). Widths can be customized based on the design for the project.

Baseline material thickness is 1 ½” (38 mm) but Prebuck offers the addition of fascia extenders to create thicker edge geometries.

Prebuck can be exposed during normal construction cycles; however, it is required to be covered by a finish material.

Prebuck zinc borate treated option is approved to be used in accordance with AWPA Use Category UC2. This treatment allows Prebuck products to be used within the building envelope and in direct contact with masonry or concrete surfaces.

The zinc borate treatment used in Prebuck is non-corrosive; therefore, no specially coated fasteners are required.

Prebuck products treated with zinc borate must not be used in exposed exterior conditions or in direct ground contact applications.

Typical exposure during construction is expected. The product may discolor, and edge swelling is possible; however, the structural integrity is not compromised. Prebuck recommends care is taken to limit exposure to the elements and that coverings be applied within 6 months.

No, the zinc borate treatment is present throughout the cross-section of Prebuck and requires no further treatment to cut edges or other modifications made on-site.
