The Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center is recognized as one of the nation's largest NCAA Division III facilities, offering extensive amenities for college health, wellness, and athletics. During the construction of this 200,000-square-foot facility, Restoration Services, Inc. installed Tremco's Paraseal® sheet membrane and TREMDrainTM 1000 board on an 8,500-square-foot section of below-grade vertical concrete wall. As they reached the top, encountering a transition from concrete to two feet of limestone, wrapping the Paraseal around became challenging due to differing grades.
Given the situation, a fluid-applied membrane was necessary, with compatibility with existing products like Paraseal membrane, Paraseal Termination Bar, and Tremco's Vulkem® 116 Polyurethane Sealant being crucial. Wartburg College mandated warranties for all waterproofing and deck coating elements. Without documented proof of compatibility between the new membrane and existing products, obtaining acceptable warranties would prove exceedingly difficult.
Tremco was able to provide Restoration Services with a perfect resolution. TREMproof® 250GC cold fluid-applied waterproofing membrane is suitable for vertical foundation walls and can be applied to concrete, masonry, and metal surfaces. When fully applied, it’s seamless, leaving no room for error. Its compatibility to Paraseal Sheet Membrane, Paraseal Termination Bar and Vulkem 116 Polyurethane Joint Sealant is not an issue and there is supporting documentation.
In addition, Tremco’s Vulkem 360NF/950NF/951NF traffic coating system was used to provide a protective, non-slip coating on patio areas and in four interior mechanical rooms – all additionally demanding applications.
By involving one manufacturer for all of these waterproofing and deck coating applications, Wartburg College was able to obtain the warranty they required, and they can rest assured that their facility is protected for many years to come.
