Engineered Transition Assemblies
Today’s tie-ins or transitions from air barriers to window or curtain
wall systems are frequently the source of problems when it comes to
preventing air and moisture infiltration in a building. Due to the vast
array of materials which the industry tends to utilize to fill this critical
connection, specifications or details typically are not provided for trades to
include in bids. Ownership of transition responsibility may be assigned to
various trades, resulting in problems associated with sequence of installation,
coordination of efforts and compatibility of materials. Once a building’s
integrity is compromised and moisture is allowed to enter, the results can be
disastrous.
In addition to moisture entering a structure, studies indicate that air leakage
is responsible for up to 40% of a building’s energy consumption for heating and
cooling. The control of air and moisture movement is critical.
Proglaze® ETA Engineered Transition Assembly from Tremco now provides a PROVEN
solution from a single source to simplify the installation of transitions from
window or curtain wall systems to wall assemblies. This patent-pending innovation
provides a mechanical attachment from the window to the wall assembly to ensure a
continuous, compatible and durable seal. With Proglaze ETA, this transition is an
easily specified extension of the window assembly. Confusion over appropriate
detailing, callbacks, delays and workmanship errors need no longer be a problem.
When used in conjunction with Tremco’s ExoAir™ 110 and 110 LT (Low Temperature)
Self-Adhered Air & Vapor Barrier Membranes and ExoAir TWF Self-Adhered Thru-Wall
Flashing Membrane at transitions into door and window openings or curtain wall
systems, long-term air and moisture protection can be assured and is backed by
an performance warranty unprecedented in the industry today.
Where site or window and/or wall systems require modifications, Tremco’s Design
Engineering team will customize solutions appropriate for the application.
Note: The location of Proglaze ETA must be approved by the window and/or
wall manufacturer prior to its use. It can be installed in the shop and/or
the field.
